Claire is a capacity-building and strategy consultant, focused on integrating diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) into organizational culture. She is known for her authenticity, commitment to possibility, and balance of empathy and accountability – all with the aim of creating workplaces where everyone can thrive. She brings more than 12 years of experience to her DEI/OD practice, and recently launched Claire Schell Consulting to provide strategic consultation and capacity-building to cross-sector leaders around DEIB & anti-racism, employee & team well-being, and organizational culture.
Before launching her practice, she led the Employee Experience and DEI team at USBCDC for 8 years, overseeing DEI strategy, employee engagement and culture change and prior to that she developed the Education & Training platform at Diversity Awareness Partnership, where she led DEI training and consultation for organizations throughout the St. Louis region. She serves on the boards of Forward Through Ferguson and Creative Reaction Lab. She received her MA at the University of Chicago and a BA from Wellesley College – both in Sociology and Religion. She lives in St. Louis with her family.
