Who was on the Racial Healing + Justice Fund Selection Committee?

The RH + JF Selection Committee was comprised of 13 community organizers and healing practitioners who answered the call to identify the initial members of the Racial Healing + Justice Fund’s Community Governance Board. The Selection Committee shared their visions and experiences with the Fund throughout the engagement process.  This committee voted to determine the members who would make up the Community Governance Body based on received applications.

Why create a Racial Healing + Justice Fund?

The goal of the Racial Healing + Justice Fund was to create a non-traditional Community Governance Board selection process. This process was created for foundations and nonprofits to step aside and make intentional space for community organizers, healing practitioners, and community members themselves to embrace the ability to be decision-makers and have power over resources that are allocated to the community. As a part of this process, Forward Through Ferguson acted as a facilitator,  but not as a decision-making body aiming to create a unique fund that is truly made for and by our community that needs it most.

RECOVERY GRANTS (2026)

The Community Governance Board (CGB) of the St. Louis Regional Racial Healing + Justice Fund (RH + JF) reconvened at the end of April to select grantees who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to healing and justice in the St. Louis region. In their discussions, FTF and the CGB members centered the North City residents who are still dealing with the aftermath of last year’s May 16 EF3 tornado.
