Update Use of Force Statute for Fleeing Suspects


Update use of force statute to reflect the United States
Supreme Court decision Tennessee v. Garner, which states
that, under the Fourth Amendment, a law enforcement
officer pursuing a fleeing suspect may not use deadly force
to prevent escape unless “the officer has probable cause to
believe that the suspect poses a significant threat of death
or serious physical injury to the officer or others.”
